Came down late for an appetizer and drinks. Dirty martini and the foamy espresso martini were amazing. Burrata was outstanding, pine nuts were an incredible touch…even the bread a soft sea salt butter were great. Tuesday night, full bar, and Nicole was first-class. Must try

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here on Saturday night. The restaurant has an elegant colonial decor, perfectly fits with the historic theme, and the table layout manages the noise level well, allowing for an intimate dining experience. The menu offers some interesting choices that you don't see in other local restaurants -nice for a change! We started with the pork belly appetizer, with some nicely prepared/presented cocktails. For dinner my wife ordered the Beef Wellington, and I had the Filet Mignon Oscar. The meat was perfectly cooked and everything was absolutely delicious! The service was good, but a little inconsistent... we waited a long time for drinks, and didn't get the appetizer until dinner was served. Totally forgivable, but hoping they work out some of these early kinks as this level of restaurant really needs to have a level of service to match. Looking forward to returning!

Just had the best experience last minute for my mother’s birthday tonight at culpers. Everyone was so accommodating and kind. Anthony our server was not only knowledgeable but personal as well! The food was all so delicious! I had the pork belly which is my favorite guilty pleasure and when done correctly WORTH IT and it sure was. My mother had the beet salad special which she was raving about. My ten year old loved the crab cakes and then we all shared the surf and turf (the apps were so filling) The steak was and I quote was “like butta”. We declined dessert because we were so full and they still brought over cheese cake with a candle in it to sing! Even the owner Chris with his very well fitting suit came over to say happy birthday and check on things. I’m so glad we decided to go there tonight.

Absolutely amazing experience at Culpers! Our server Summer was outstanding from start to finish. She was warm and attentive. I had the filet and it was delicious packed with flavor, easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. My family also enjoyed their meal just as much. They got a short rib pappardelle, beef wellington, and a bone-in ribeye. The sides were just as impressive, especially with how fresh and seasoned everything was! Summer gave great recommendations and checked in at all the right moments, which really elevated the whole night. Service like hers is the reason people come back. Can’t wait to return!

Culver’s 1778 truly stands out for its exceptional food, spotless cleanliness, and warm hospitality. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me with genuine smiles and made me feel right at home. The service was quick, friendly, and incredibly attentive — you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Food was amazing and delicious! Highly recommended it. It’s a new gem in East Setauket. Will definitely be coming back!

We had the distinct pleasure of dining at Culpers last Friday and it was delightful. We sat at the bar and the vibe was great. We were warmly greeted by one of the owners (Chris), and Nicole (bartender) was personable and immediately came to take our order. She did a great job throughout the night!! We dined on some apps (crab cakes & crisp pork belly) which were delicious. The staff were very friendly and Scott (co-owner) also came over to check on our wine etc. Great job by all and thank you for making our Friday night a true-quality experience. Well done.

First time coming here. It’s situated in a strip of stores on 25A so parking was fantastic. We thought the service was quick and pleasant & the atmosphere was pretty well done . There are two distinct areas of the restaurant with different vibes. Almost like two different places actually. There’s a laid- back bar/tables scene when you first enter & then a formal dining attached around the rear which is where we sat. I wanted to try some apps but my date wasn’t hungry enough so we settled on a porterhouse for 2 accompanied by some fingerling potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything was prepared well and tasted great but I noticed no table had S&P on it. I would have preferred the potatoes with a tad more salt. Although I was eating steak I did see a waitress cruise by with a burger that looked fantastic. I suppose I should return to further investigate.

Went here with the wife for Birthday dinner. Staff was very friendly and our waitress was very attentive. Atmosphere was relaxing, we were seated in the main dining room. The cocktails were delicious, all the food was prepared to perfection and the portion sizes ensured we left full and content. A fantastic addition to the local scene and we will definitely be back.
